The National Day of Healing and Reconciliation is a grassroots movement that focuses on healing all peoples within Canada by addressing lingering issues resulting from past injustices based on our culture, religion, or race. The intention is to move forward by educating ourselves about our history and to engage collectively within our families, communities, and across Canada for the purposes of healing and reconciliation.

The National Day of Healing and Reconciliation (NDHR) and the Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) share a vision: by creating a movement to engage Canadians to increase the dialogue, level of understanding and sensitivity in the Canadian public about the history of residential schools, their resulting impacts and the need for healing and reconciliation. The goal of the 1000 Conversations initiative is to engage Canadians in 1000 discussions within one year on the topic of Indian Residential Schools and reconciliation.
NDHR encourages folks to have a conversation about history and healing. Acknowledging history and its impacts is an important part of moving our communities forward. We talk, we listen, we reconcile!
